#Review THE LAST GUY by by Ilsa Madden-Mills & Tia Louise

I bought this book a few days ago (in the release day), and even though I had lots of books in my TBR list I take the time to read this one first. Why, maybe you're wondering... because of THAT... blurb.

The cover has nothing to do with my decision. #YeahRight.

From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and international bestselling author Tia Louise…

The first rule of office romance is don’t do it—especially if your dream is to hold the anchor spot on the nightly news and your boss is trying to get you fired.

But one look at Cade Hill, the sexy new sports director, and uptight reporter Rebecca Fieldstone is daydreaming about other things.

Sex in his office…
Sex in the on-set kitchen…
Sex in the supply closet…

She can’t stop thinking about the former NFL quarterback and how perfect he’d look between her sheets—except he’s an arrogant jerk with a huge… ego.

He’s the last guy she’d ever have a one-night stand with.

Cade Hill draws a thick professional line on office romance—until it comes to the hyper-focused Rebecca. He wants her, and he gets his wish when a chance encounter has them having the hottest sex of their lives.

It’s just a hook-up, she says.
When can we do it again? he says.

With Rebecca determined to keep Cade in the friend zone, it’s going to be an uphill battle for Cade to convince her he’s the last guy she’ll ever want.

THE LAST GUY is the first white-hot CONTEMPORARY ROMANTIC COMEDY from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills and Tia Louise. It features Fireball-fueled hookups, Doritos Locos Tacos, attack monkeys, toddlers in tiaras, and one fabulous drag queen. Prepare for frantic clicking (or page flipping!) and smoking-hot sexytimes all the way to the out-of-this-world happily-ever-after.

If you're looking for a fun and sexy read...
This is the book for you. Try it!

The authors built a story that was fresh, funny, sweet, but a call to reflection about ourselves and our dreams. One of the things that surprised me at the beggining was a little girl named Petal. I loved that kid.

Then we know more about Rebecca and the bad moment she's having in her job. She wants to be anchor in the news, but her boss isn't excited about give her that work. Also we know Cade, a former NFL star turned in the sports guy of the news. He's sexy, handsome and... yes, a cocky bastard. According to Becks, anyway.

Their chemistry is insane, and the first person narration was perfect to know how their minds work. The humor, the ridiculousness of some situations and their inner battles are priceless.
I enjoyed this book a lot. It wasn't (just) because of the hot cover as I said before, but about the sexy, funny and sweet story behind it. I loved the relationship between Cade and Stone, the back and forth between then and how they enjoyed themselves once they decided to give it a try to each other. I had lots of fun with this book and can't wait for you to read it.

I also loved Rebecca's friend Chaz and Cade's brother Trent. I would love to read about them again. Anytime. Soon.

If you were wondering, yes, I gave it 5 stars on Amazon ;)

My Review

When I finished reading the first book of this series I was like "OMG, this can be end this way, I need to know what happens now". It was a wicked cliffhanger and I was kinda hating myself after that, 'cause I'm not that into cliffhanger. The series I use to read are mostly standalones... but, that's a different story.

I had to wait for a while, but I've finally discover what happened. Yay!

If you read the book, then you know that at the end the Steel Souls were attending an underground fight. In some point, there was a big riot and everyone had to escape the best way they could. In the confusion, Ramsey ask to his brother, Ruck, to take Sadie back to their HQ. But neither Ruck or Ramsey could anticipate what happened afterward.

Sadie was separated from Ruck and arrested.

This second book started after a big revelation. JJ, the president of the Steel Souls, had a daughter he hadn't see for 20 years, and he's certain Sadie is that daughter.

The lack of information about Ruck and Sadie has Ramsey on edge, and the boys started to make a plan to bring them back. At this point, none of the Steel Souls know who Sadie really is, just Ramsey, JJ and Lia. Then, they received a call from the wolves claiming they trapped Ruck and they want to negociate. Key words: Big, Troubles, Coming.

Sadie, in the other hand, is being hit in the police station, interrogate about her connection with the Steel Souls, and then... Vaughn goes for her. This part was very suspicious to me. How's he knew where she was?

This asshole said to Sadie that the Steel Souls called him and refused to take Sadie back. He said Ramsey didn't like Sadie in his live anymore, and then, he take her to San Francisco. Bad move there, because Ramsey was looking for her and quickly discovered her location. I must to say that, even tough Ramsey is a caveman, I love how far he's willing to go for his woman.

When Sadie is back with the Steel Souls is the moment for the revelations.

Sadie always felt she had no family, no place in the world... she felt she didn't belong anywhere. When she her mom and brother were killed, she was disoriented and lost. Now, she has a new family. Unconventional, savage, passionate and dangerous, but a family anyway.

More secrets are about to be revealed, more danger, death and tears, but also love, trust and... yes! REVENGE!

This book was a wonderful ride. The emotions, the action and the development of the characters hooked me up since the first page and I coudn't put it down till the end. The intrigue, suspense and passionate love scenes were amazing. How the author described the dynamic inside a MC, the family vibe, was lovely. Nikki Groom has surprised me a lot. I wasn't expecting to like this story as much as I did. Now I'm a fan, and I'll wait (not so) patiently for her upcoming books, specially if they're related with this series.

About the Author

A Chicago native who prefers highrise living and hasn't owned or driven a car in over twenty years, Vry is a married, stay-at-home mother of two daughters. When not doing the mom thing, she can be found at Art Galleries, poetry readings, creating something on a canvas or through her keyboard, bounding in the mosh pit at a concert with her beloved husband Maximilian, or on the dance floor of her favorite Chicago Goth/Industrial haunts. No matter the setting, she is usually wearing black and her sidewalk-stomping Doc Martens.

Vry is now branching out into original prose with her first release, Hopescapes. It's an inspirational short story that will appear in Musings: An Argyle Empire Anthology. The story is about the evolution of lifescapes and how the promise of new beginnings inspire many dreamscapes. The theme of this story centers on emerging from the embers of profound loss and hopelessness, to realizing the importance of survival, ongoingness, and the power that comes from re-learning the language of happiness...Two strangers discover that the journey to happiness often comes at a tragic price – the conversation between them, and the connections they realize they share, will alter their perspectives in the most unexpected ways. They will never look at the Chicago skyline, or the broadening hopescapes that expand before them, in the same way ever again.

Vry hopes to release a couple of steamy romances in the near future...if her muse cooperates.

Reader, writer, editor. Marketer by day.

Politically opinionated. Not fully dressed without a scarf. So many books, so little time. And so many favorites: The Blind Assassin, Jane Eyre, The Poisonwood Bible, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Goldfinch, The Gargoyle, The Dead, the vastly underappreciated Forsyte Saga, almost everything by Dickens.

Outlander and Twific, Shakespeare and Tolkien. IKR?

Yes, I’ve read Ulysses. Yes, I liked the Dublin Murder Squad series better. (And I never did read Finnegan’s Wake—sorry, Professor Boyle).

A graduate of Valparaiso University, I have dabbled in creative writing on and off since middle school days (first place in that 8th-grade creative writing contest!). My novella, Stranger in a Stranger Land, in Musings: An Argyle Empire Anthology, is my first published work.

When not working or writing, I am an avid music fan, concert goer, television binger and movie watcher. I am divorced with five children - two furry, three not. I am also probably the person in the car next to you, singing like a mad woman or cursing like a sailor.

My genre tends toward fantasy, paranormal and supernatural.

Tara Severance writes in her scant spare time, hoping that one day she'll be able to quit her day job. The Short suspense story, Slash Pine, is featured in the Musings Anthology. If you love mysteries that might be happening in your own backyard, you'll find something here.

Jennifer Locklear

Jennifer Locklear lives in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. She married her high school sweetheart, Morgan, in 1995. She is the mother of two children, a son and daughter.

Jennifer enjoyed creative writing as an adolescent, but set aside her favorite hobby to concentrate on college studies, career and family. In 2010, she rediscovered her passion for writing when her husband recruited her to edit his own stories. They co-authored and published their debut novel, Exposure, in 2014.

Since 2000, Jennifer has been employed in fundraising and development for a non-profit organization. She has been a contributing reviewer for the “Bookish Temptations” book blog and is a founding moderator of “Argyle Empire,” an approved fan site for author Sylvain Reynard. She also enjoys participating in charitable activities, both locally and online

Morgan and Jennifer Locklear met in 1989 as teenagers and became high school sweethearts. They have been married since 1995 and live in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States with their two children, a son and daughter.

Although both enjoyed creative writing in their youth, they have only been working as a writing team since 2010. Since then they have created a dozen full-length and short stories together.

Jennifer has been employed in fundraising and development for a non-profit organization since 2000. She also enjoys participating in charitable activities, both locally and online. In her (limited) free time she is an avid reader.

#NewRelease (+Review) TALK BRITISH TO ME by Robin Bielman

Hi there everyone.

Today I’ll share with you a new release by Robin Bielman, a book that’s part of the Wherever You Go Series. Maybe you saw the countdown about this book here in the blog… yes, you’re right. This post is about TALK BRITISH TO ME.

Here we go!

This book surprised me a lot and I had a great time reading it. With a first person narration, the author introduces us to Teague and Mateo, the lead characters, and let us know their dreams and fears. Teague works in a coffee shop and she’s follower of a radio show called The Dating Guy. In this show the guy, Bennet, advices about dating and relationships. His British accent is a magnet and every girl in the copy shop just stop wherever she’s doing to listen to him. Mateo was a soccer star in college, but after a lesion he had to change of profession. He helps with some charity causes but, to his parents he hasn’t a steady job. The truth is Mateo has a job, but it’s a secret. Mateo is the man behind the mysterious Bennet, the sexy voice with British accent.

When Mateo first met Teague, he was intrigued. But that intrigue quickly turned in something more. He was in love with this girl, but he had a contract with the radio station and… he have to stay single for as long as the contract lasts. After meeting Mateo, Teague started to work as assistant for a wedding planner, what she doesn’t know is that bossy woman was Mateo’s mom.

Funny moments, lots of sexual tension and humor filled the pages of this book. The characters were adorable. I enjoyed their inner dialogues and their particular brand of humor. I loved Mateo’s friends and Harper (and I hope the author would write about them in the future), their friendship and how easy to like they are. The plot wasn’t complicated and, in some points, seemed to be predictable but the author has a way to surprise you. Then, after all the problems, misunderstandings and self-sabotage, Teague and Mateo found a way to make their relationship work while they’re traveling around the world.

This is a fresh, sweet and romantic story, recommended for fans of British accent, romantic comedies and, of course, HEA.

About the book

As the Dating Guy on L.A.'s top morning show, I give the single guy's perspective on dating, love, and sex—and I give great advice. Everyone's hooking up…well, except for me. Sure, I can get any woman I want, but I've got a "no relationship" clause in my contract and the only woman I want has "relationship" written all over her. Probably stamped on her ass, too. And wouldn't I like to confirm that.
Unfortunately, she wants nothing to do with me. At all. Something about the next Ice Age might have even come up in her rebuttal. Adorable. Because she's determined to ignore what one simple kiss proved: she wants me as badly as I want her.
Everything in me is screaming to go after her, but I've got a secret that I'm fairly certain will end up with her roasting my nuts over an open fire. So, job on the line? Check. Nuts on the line? Check. Can't get her out of my head? Nail…meet coffin.
But what a way to go…
