Avery Bardot steps off the plane in Rome, looking for a fresh start. She’s left behind a soon-to-be ex-husband in Boston and plans to spend the summer with her best friend Daisy, licking her wounds—and perhaps a gelato or two. But when her American-expat friend throws her a welcome party on her first night, Avery’s thrown for a loop when she sees a man she never thought she’d see again: Italian architect Marcello Bianchi.

Marcello was the man—the one who got away. And now her past is colliding with her present, a present where she should be mourning the loss of her marriage and—hey, that fettuccine is delicious! And so is Marcello…
Slipping easily into the good life of summertime in Rome, Avery spends her days exploring a city that makes art historians swoon, and her nights swooning over her unexpected what was old is new again romance. It’s heady, it’s fevered, it’s wanton, and it’s crazy. But could this really be her new life? Or is it just a temporary reprieve before returning to the land of twin-set cardigans and crustless sandwiches?

A celebration of great friendship, passionate romance, and wonderful food, Roman Crazy is a lighthearted story of second chances and living life to the fullest.

What can I say about this book?

Well, let's start with the facts. First of all, I've been a fan of Alice Clayton for a while now. Her stories are filled with fun, love and friendship, and such an inspirational vibe. She is my go-to when I need to crack a smile, and because her writing I started to read in English in first place (for all those who don't know me, I'm from Venezuela and I speak in Spanish, lol).

I've been exchanging emails with Nina Bocci for (almost) the same amount of time I've been reading Alice's books. I met her as the Sylvain Reynard publicist, and I didn't had idea she was a writer too. I first read her in Felony Ever After, and I had a blast with her writing 'cause is so fresh and fun. Loved it!

Roman Crazy, for other hand, is the first full length (published) novel signed by Nina and Alice. This is a second chance romance, narrated in first person from Avery POV, and takes us to Rome, one of the most vibrant and colorful European cities.

This trip started with a penis. Scratch that! It started with Avery watching a penis.  Scratch that again...  it started with Avery watching her husband's penis being "saved" in the wrong place. Then she cuts with everything and takes a plane to Rome.

In this trip she was supposed to recover from the failure of her marriage, but after a few hours in the city she must to face the past. A very sexy and handsome past called Marcello.

Oh yeah, baby, Marcello is the man... and Avery knows it.

The whole novel is funny, romantic and oh-so-real. You can feel, while you're reading, that you're talking with a friend, and that feeling is awesome.

With lots of geographic and artsy references, Alice and Nina built a story with a narrative voice so soft, fresh and lovely.

Roman Crazy is about second chances in life, about live and love with all your heart, about trust in yourself and never betray who you are... it's about be brave and find what makes you happy, and take that something and enjoy it. It's like nothing I had read before, but it was familiar at the same time. I have laughed, cried and sighed with Avery and Marcello. I enjoyed every single page, and I can't wait for the next installment in this series.
