Excerpt:

If you’d asked me when I was in college what I thought I would be doing in ten years’ time, this wouldn’t have been my answer. Life as a private investigator isn’t as exciting as one might think. Sure, there are moments of danger which get my adrenaline pumping and when that happens, no other high can compare. I used to live for that feeling and for a while you could even say I was addicted to it. But the choices we make have consequences and one decision can change everything.

These days I do a lot of watching and even more waiting. I’m the guy people pay to find the truth buried under all the lies. Eventually, I see past the surface of who you’re pretending to be, revealing all that you’ve kept hidden and I know firsthand appearances can be deceiving.

Cover by Jessica Hildreth.
I met about this author and book because of Facebook. A few months ago I started following to Jacob and Logan Chance, two young writers who are starting their careers in the publishing world, and they started to share things about their upcoming books.

Thanks to these guys I met a bunch of wonderful ladies, but I'm gonna talk about them later (or another day). Let me talk you first about Quake.

This is a erotic romance novel, mixed with a little suspense, written in first person from two POV, male and female, a surprising storyline full of sexy action.

From the first moment I saw Janny Moore's sparkling eyes and luminous smile, I've been obsessed with the idea of getting to know her... watching.

She's everything I need in my life, now I just have to convince her. She's never set eyes on me, she doesn't know I exist... but she will.

About the story:

In a world full of secrets and lies, we found this interesting argument about a private investigator who is hired to spy someone. This person, the client, have a feeling about the erratic behavior of her husband so, she goes to Kyle and ask for his services. Time goes by, and the case seems to be stuck. So our guy started to feel... anxious, maybe?

Hopefully he finds something wrong soon, because I might die of fucking boredom on this job.

I don't wanna talk too much in order to avoid the spoilers, but I can say that this case is a 'game-changer' to Kyle. He seems to be always in control, dominating all the situations, but something came to shake his world.

The characters:

As I said before, Kyle Mckenzie is a Private Investigator but first he was working on law enforcement.

He's methodic, fierce, loyal, and totally engaged to his work. He's also a guy who gets what he wants, always.

I’m a solitary guy by nature, even more so for the past few years, but every single cell of my broken soul is pushing me toward her.

Kyle, according to the book, is handsome and kinda mysterious. His body is hard and defined, his hair is dark brown and his eyes are dark too. But he's not only sexy, he's smart too.

He's capable of analyze people, read them, and spend lots of time in his own mind. He has a lot of things running on his brain, something about his past, the reasons behind his line of work. But I'll let you discover it.

Janny More, is a young woman who's studying to be a graphic designer, she's the sister in law of the Kyle's client. When he saw her for the first time wasn't the typical meeting. Well, nothing about this book is "the typical". And I love that. But, to the point, that first meeting was just perfect.

The chemistry between Kyle and Janny is strong... it's amazing, you can feel it from the first escene (and it's a book, for God's sake).

Physically, Janny is petite and her body have curves in the right places. She's blonde and her eyes have a particular shade of blue. Maybe that isn't important, but I liked that detail and the Kyle's reaction to that fact.

She makes me lose all fucking control.

Why you should read this book?

There's a bunch of reasons, the first one is because the book is AMAZING. Jacob has a strong narrative voice, his characters grow up through the story and that mix between romance and suspence in this erotic novel is perfect. The subtle reference to pop culture in an specific scene stole my heart. I have to warn you, the final scene is... I don't know how describe it, but I've read the book twice and I can't get over that end. lol.
