#Review AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT by Tara Sivec

9:11

Meet the Naughty Princess Club: a brand new series from USA Today bestselling author Tara Sivec that introduces readers to Fairytale Lane and the hilarity—and romance—that ensue when three women start a new business to make it rain.
Once upon a time Cynthia was the perfect housewife. Between being the President of the PTA and keeping her home spotless without a hair (or her pearls) out of place, her life was a dream come true. Her husband was once her knight in shining armor, but now he’s run off with all their money…and the babysitter.
Dressed as a princess at the annual Halloween block party on Fairytale Lane, she meets two other “princesses” also facing money troubles: antique store owner Ariel and librarian Isabelle. When the women are invited to wear their costumes to a party where they’re mistaken for strippers, Cindy, Ariel, and Belle realize that a career change could be the best way to make their money problems go bippity-boppity-boo.
But can structured Cindy approach a stripper pole without sanitizing wipes? And could the blue-eyed anti-prince that has been crossing her path become Cindy’s happily ever after? At the Stroke of Midnight is a hilarious, empowering story where princesses can save themselves while slaying in stilettos.

Knowing the classic fairy tale that inspired this book, I would expect the typical damsel in distress waiting for the knight in shinny armor to rescue her for whatever danger she would be in… but what I found in this book was different. Unexpected. Surprising. Wonderful.

First we have Cinthya who’s a single mom, abandoned by her husband and buried in a mountain of debt; she’s also harassed by her in-laws and has no idea about what to do to with her life. Then, enter the redhead bombshell who tells her a thing or two about her ex-husband, and a shy librarian who’s tagging along with the redhead, and we have the most weird but awesome association. These women have problems to deal with and need money to do it. They are desperate, and when someone approach them to dress up like princesses to attend a party they say “Why the hell no?

That’s when the fun begins...

The party turned out to be a adult-themed party, and they were expected to undress for the attendees. And the prince we were waiting to rescue our princesses turned out not being as charming as we expected, lol.

Through the story we see how Cinthya transforms from an uptight woman, or how she would say a proper lady, into a woman who know what she wants and what she needs and is not afraid to go and get it. With the right encouragement and the help of her new friends, she finds her own voice and the strenght to make something she never dreamt of doing. Open her own bussiness. A dancing bussiness. While undressing, of course.

The Naughty Princess Club is a winner idea, and Ariel knows it. Isabelle knows it... and even if she try to deny it, Cinthya knows it too. But it's not going to be a easy enterprise. They have to learn all the tricks and secrets, and the person who can help them doesn't want to get involved.

PJ will have a hard time explaining to Cinthya why she must not become a stripper, basically because his reasons aren't making sense, even for him. Being the owner of a strip club, you would think he may be interested in new talent to show on stage. He's in interested in Cinthya, all right, but not for entertaining his clients.

While this two fight against their mutual attraction and defend their points of view, PJ's layers start to fall apart revealing the charming man he really is, and Cinthya's world start to reconstruct.

I had a lot of fun with this book! A hilarious retelling of the classic fairytale where the prince doesn't own a castle but a strip club, and where the princess doesn't need to be rescue but to make it rain, lol. I also read Belle's book, and it's as funny as this one. I loved them both and can't wait for Ariel's book to be released in September.

If you're looking for a fun and sexy read to take to the beach (the pool or wherever you're going this summer), you should give this book (and series) a try.
