I'll give this book 5 snaps in the shape of a heart.
OMG, this book! This series may or may not be my favorite by Sarina Bowen, and ever since she started this journey (with Griff and Audrey) I've been following the Shipleys. The stories are fun, and sweet and romantic, but also intense and with a certain amount of drama to keep things interesting. Speakeasy isn't the exception.
May Shipley is been through a lot. She's the screw up in a picture-perfect family (or that's how she sees herself), and when she finds her live-in lover kissing someone else in a bar her worlds starts to crumble.
Alec was in the right place and the right time to catch May. He wasn't the biggest fan of the Shipleys but he couldn't let her fall apart in the middle of his bar while May's girlfriend was cheating on her, so he helped her to get out of there. And then helped her some more to get out of her own head.
The chemistry between Alec and May is something crazy, and despite they seemed to be wrong for each other, they were perfect. They were broken in their own way, but their pieces formed something beautiful and unique. Something May insisted to keep secret. And that secret was breaking Alec even more deeply.
This couple has to face a bunch of things to get everything straight, and the journey is so emotional and intense that's impossible not to feel their pain and cry with them. This is a soul-searching story, with fictional characters fighting real problems (problems you may have, or someone you know may have), where people fall in love, make mistakes and learn from them. Even if that "learning" take some time. It's a story that will make you laugh, but also will touch your heart and warm you all over. And when I say "all over" I mean it, because Alec and May are SO HOT together!
Speakeasy is one of the best things you'll read this year, I promise. So, go and buy your copy now.
