After reading Claimed by Power, I was wondering what happened to Thea and Cam. Ruined by Power, the second installment in the Empire of Angel series was published last week and now I can tell you about them. 

Not all habits can be broken…

Thea and Cam are now in the Angel Realm. They discovered they are natural mates and want to ask permission to mate. But since they set feet in the realm, things started to get weird. 

Elithea was called to train with other angels due her special powers. There she met Dani, who became her friend. Thea ignores too many things about the Angel Realm, the purpose of the different kinds of angels and what will happen with her and Cam, but what she know for certain is that she loves him.

Cam can't be appart from Thea. The separation from his natural mate has him on edge, so he asked Zak for advice and help. When he finds her again all the heat and the passion explodes. Their chemistry is even hotter in this book, it's amazing. The raw emotions, the need for contact... loved it!

Then Thea must start a difficult mission. To find her mother and discover her real nature. The doubts and the sadness will rock her world, but Cam will be there for her. The time pass and they don't find any clue about Thea's mom. Cam is required to start a mission on his own and he's forced to leave Thea behind. Their apparent peace starts to crumble, the light and peace they find in each other starts to dissapear and Cam succumbs to rage and darkness while in his mission. Thea is worried about him and wants to help him, but Cam is stubborn...

I enjoyed this book a lot. The previous one was good, but this is awesome. The narrative rythm was improved, the characters and the plot evolved nicely and I can't be more in love with the story. Thea and Cam has to fight some difficult battles, and the cliffhanger at the end is crazy, but really loved how the author developed Ruined by Power. There are many surprises in this book, and many questions in the air to be resolved in the next book. I highly recommend this to all the PNR lovers. Personal note: Can't wait to read it Awakened by Power!

I've been a fan of Paranormal Romance for a while. I lost the count of the books that I've read and I've enjoyed through the years. Lately, and because of the predictable that the Paranormal stories where turning to me, I started to try different things. Claimed by Power was a wonderful excuse to read PNR again and now I'm going to talk you about this book.

I met the author thanks to a email, and she kindly asked me to read her work. I was thrilled because I love discovering new authors and stories. It's exciting! In this first talk she explained the storyline to me and I was totally intrigued! I had to read it!

A few weeks later I received my ARC and falled in love with Cam and Thea. To tell I enjoyed the story is an understatement. Angels and Demons, the eternal fight between good and evil, is the background for this romance. Duty, fears, love, lust and secrets are part of the mix to spice up this novel, and the author is amazing shaking things off.

Thea is an intriguing character, strong and smart, loyal and passionate, but there's too many things she doesn't know about herself or about her family. She started to see strange criatures, ugly demon-shaped things, and she thought she was losing her mind. Danger is creeping around, closer than she imagine. The good and the evil fighting even if she doesn't know it, and her life is about to change when the misterious Cam appears in front of her. 

Cam is a warrior. His body is a weapon, strong and well trained. He's ready for the battle, he knows how to beat every enemy, for the only thing he's not prepared is for train a nephilim. Especially if that nephilim is as attractive as Thea.

They despise each other. Thea refuse to lean in a man, no matter if he's human or angel. She's very capable to stand for herself, to protect herself... at least that's what she think. But there's more danger than gangs and thiefs in the streets. And Cam will be assign to train her and protect her. 

Their attraction is undeniable. The way their bodies respond to the closeness, to every touch, is almost magical. They will fight their attraction, but some battles are lose before are started. 

Thea needs Cam to learn how to fight against the dangers threatening her life, and Cam needs Thea to learn how to feel again. Together they will be unstoppable, but some love stories aren't easy. This is one of those.

I enjoyed this book a lot. Loved the characters and the way the author narrates every detail about them, the scenery, the beautiful and the ugly, the background stories, the secrets threatening with be revealed, the dialogues... I loved every single detail. There's some traditions about angels and demons, some stories taught by the different religions, but Zoey Ellis plays freely with them to develop this novel. She creates her own rules, her own universe, and that's wonderful.

This book is a standalone, but the story about Cam and Thea follows in the next book (TBA). I recommend this book for all the paranormal romance lovers, or simply for all of the readers who enjoy a good love story.

“What exactly are my powers?” Thea asked

The angel stood up. “Not now. It’s time to go. You have your answers.”

Frustrated, she exhaled loudly. She went to her wardrobe and grabbed a bra, top, and another pair of jeans. The angel turned away, allowing her to dress. She eyed him from behind. So angels were real. And they were handsome and powerful and stern. Nothing like she would have ever imagined them to be. He couldn’t even crack a smile and yet mocked her like a child. Were all angels like that? Maybe he didn’t like humans.

“At least tell me why they sent you,” she said, smoothing down her top. “Why you?”

“Why not me?” he said, almost in a growl. “Who would you prefer?”

“I don’t know,” Thea said, lifting her shoulders. “Someone able to smile once in a while?”

He turned to face her, his plain expression flavored with annoyance. “I’m not here to entertain you. You need someone to train you and help you learn how to control your abilities. I’m the best there is. You should be honored.”

Thea shook her head, annoyed. Trained? Like a puppy? Not happening. Especially not by this man, who’d been abrupt with her from the start, despite his careful treatment of her wounds. “I should be honored? Honored that I was attacked by those creatures? Honored that I almost got ripped apart? Honored that you had to come and save me, a poor damsel in distress?”

His face hardened with each word she said, but she couldn’t give a fuck.

“I don’t need to be saved by a warrior who can’t stop the horrors happening in this city every day. Or by a God that keeps himself hidden from those he’s supposed to inspire? People are raped and drugged and killed every day; where are you then? Where is He then? I’ve gotten this far without the help of you or God, and I’ll be fine to continue without you.”

The angel’s stance didn’t change. The only indication of his agitation was in the grounding of his jaw. “You’re being irrational. If I was able to find you here, the demons will find you here. You cannot escape them. Pack. Now.”

“No.” She grabbed her phone. “You go. Thanks very much, but I’ll be fine.”

With a low grunt of frustration, the angel grabbed her around the waist quicker than she would have thought possible. He flew up to the ceiling, his rock-like arm digging into her stomach, pressing her against his chest. He swept his free hand over the length of the room. The room began to glow and then burst into flames, smoke eating up the remaining air.

“No!” She struggled to get out of his arms while her home and everything she owned burned.

He leapt out of the window, holding onto her as he flew over the city.
